MARISA (she/her)

Marisa is a Canadian-born Filipina visual artist whose practice is ignited by circumstance, collaboration and site-specific opportunities for discovery and storytelling–deconstructing and reconstructing found and discarded objects to assemble third culture artifacts. She is the proud matriarch of her small family and cultivator of intergenerational connections within local arts communities. Marisa is an avid practitioner of mending, thrifting, and aging with radical acceptance.

What inspires you the most from your practice?

I am most inspired by serendipity; chance is a powerful concept that pervades every aspect of my life. The belief in possibility and happy accidents kindles resourcefulness and flexibility–and how you do anything is how you do everything.
